Fifth Grade Camp

5th Grade Outdoor Ed (aka “Science Camp”)
DATE:  February 1-4, 2022 (Tuesday – Friday)
LOCATION: Camp Sempervirens

Exploring New Horizons Outdoor Schools at Sempervirens takes a hands-on, experiential approach to science education, and focuses on adventure, self-discovery, and environmental stewardship. Students explore the coastal ecosystems, the Oak, Madrone, and Redwood Forest, and each evening activity finishes with songs and stories around the campfire.

COST:  Our 5th graders rely on donations to pay for camp. If you’re looking for a suggested donation amount, we can’t suggest an amount! Your donation is totally up to you. However, we can give you a ballpark average cost guesstimate, loosely based on the historical cost of camp in previous years divided by the number of 5th graders. In past years, each 5th grade class has needed to collect donations and/or fundraising sufficient to cover camp costs that average out to about $300 per student.

Direct donations can be turned in to the Woodside office in the form of a check or cash. Make checks payable to MDUSD, and it is VERY IMPORTANT that you write on the memo line your student’s NAME and “Outdoor Ed”.  Be sure to ask for and hold onto your receipt. In the event that in-person camp gets cancelled, your direct donation can only be refunded if your check includes your child’s name and Outdoor Ed on the memo line.

You can donate once, weekly, monthly, or whatever is best for you.

The more direct donations that are collected, the less effort that needs to be spent fundraising. EVERY DONATION, ANY AMOUNT HELPS! The sooner we meet our camp $$$ goal, the sooner we stop worrying about it!

FUNDRAISING:  If you have a fundraising idea AND you’re willing to organize it, email I can help you get it approved by the principal and then you can get started on it.
